本日のTeacherは、言語の学習大好きなセルビア人女性。
2回目のレッスンである。
大学の第二外国語でスペイン語を履修し、間もなくスペインへの移住を予定している本日のTeacherは、さらなるチャンスをものにすべく、現在アラビア語と格闘中。
商売柄、いずれの言語もさわりだけ知っているので、本日は、主に上記2言語のお話。
で、彼女。DMMを始めてから、日本語にも興味を持ち始めており、こちらはまだ学習しているとは言えなさそうだが、とりあえず、日本語の挨拶文も集めているようじゃ。
何を知りたい、との問いに、「How are you?」と来たもんだ。
みなさんなら、どう教えますか～！？
「お元気？」「元気？」「（最近）どう？」てな具合にも言えるけど、やっぱ、「お元気ですか？」だよね。
もちろん、そう教えた。
で、レッスン後、最近購入した「日経WOMAN」の記事を思い出し、一人プリプリしたのでした。
「何気なく使っている英語、実はちょっとここがヘン！」てなタイトルで、2ページにわたって、日本人がよく使う英文にチャチをいれてる内容。
これを書いたアメリカ人男性にも同誌編集部にも、あきれてしまうぜよ。
英語学習者を益々臆病にさせるだけじゃん。それが狙い！？
日本人も、もっと国全体で、英語を単なるツールとして上手く使えるようにならなければならない。
英語が話せることが偉いとか、賢いとか、そんなことはないのだ。
単なるツールなんだから、恐れずにどんどん使えばいい。
で、初級レベルの人は、ネイティブだけに通用する、細かなルールを気にすることは（当面）ないのだ！
同記事から、一つだけ例をあげると、
NG: Hi, My name is...
OK: Hi, I'm...
Hi, My name is...は、スピーチ用の言い方だと解説。。。
このNG文に関しては、W会英会話クラブのアメリカ人の講師にも意見を聞いてみたが、'My name is...' は、英語をネイティブとする成人が使っていたら、違和感を感じる。という回答だった。
話を戻すが、
上記セルビア人女性は、「お元気ですか？」を最初に覚え、本格的に日本語を学習して、一定レベルに至れば、「お元気？」=>「元気？」=>「（最近）どう？」と徐々に習得し、場面に合わせて使い分けるようになるであろう。
それで、いいと思うのだ。
いきなり、「（最近）どう？」を教えるのは、やっぱいけないと思うのだ。
またまた、翻って、上記「日経WOMAN」の記事。
英語がここまでGlobal言語になり、もうネイティブスピーカーだけの言語でなくなり、日本人の中にも、ツールとしての英語を重んじ、従って、フィリピン英語、中国英語、インド英語を受け入れようとしている人が増え、今後も英語は言語（であるばかり）でなく、益々ツールとして使用されていくであろうというのに、「日経WOMAN」の上記記事って、どんだけ！？てな感じ。
全般的に、論点が曖昧になってるけど、わかる人は、わかるよね。
